It's been less than a month and already business is starting to look promising. From a couple websites under my belt and a hand full of leads that included phone, internet and in person meetings, I'm feeling pretty good right now as I didn't see a web design business in my near future.
But it gets better.
The other day I found myself at Young Entrepreneur Society(YES) in downtown Victoria. There I met the owner of App Culture and New Wave Advertising. Offering a variety of practical advertising solutions for business, I felt at home talking shop and taking in the technical aspects of what they do. App Culture being the new kid on the block, they are the only local App development business operated locally in Victoria.
At YES there are multiple small offices, shared board rooms, kitchen and hot desks. The building is old and rich in history. There is community and a friendly atmosphere here. I was pleased to find out that everyone was referring each other's services and networking together. I'm finding myself at home here and believe that there is a strong potential to build a partnership with New Wave and App Culture. Stay tuned.
I'll leave you with this. You know how you always hear people say "follow your dreams"? I say sometimes those dreams are not always screaming at you in the face where you feel compelled to listen. Sometimes you realize you're good at something or you have a hobby or talent. You probably brush those things aside on a daily basis and go about your business.
Take a minute to think if you're happy with what you're doing and if there's that little voice inside saying, "I would feel more fulfilled or happier doing this all the time". It's not a bad thing to change what you are doing and take a chance on another path. Take that chance. You will grow and learn to evolve to your surrounds. This will define you even deeper and build your character. You can always go back if it doesn't work out.
“Probably some of the best things that have ever happened to you in life, happened because you said yes to something. Otherwise things just sort of stay the same.”
